Poem: Lonely Highway
Lonely highway
All you do is want, want, want. You cared less about me. My feelings, thoughts, hopes, and dreams, meant nothing to you, all because of your needs.
“It’s your way or the highway” you always told me. I hope one day those words
echo in your head.
You said you loved me, and yet, your words cut me. I loved you more than any words could ever say, my hopes and dreams soon, too, disappeared along the way.
So, one day I took that highway, and to my surprise, it was shorter than you surmised.
It’s lonely out here on my own, without you all I do is roam.
Looking and searching for somewhere I can call home. Perhaps one day, my feet won’t stand alone. I’ll be with my other half and not on my own.
Until then though, I’ll learn to love myself and do the things I should have done,
long before someone else comes.
